This story dates back to 2014. I was doing my Master’s thesis research at a lab in Bangalore. My sister’s wedding was around the corner and I was all about planning these cute surprise gifts for the couple. I had a strong urge to earn money for this on my own, rather than relying on pocket money from my parents, so I geared up to hustle.
I hope for increased awareness and not to hear a lot of such remarks in future. And yes, let’s champion inclusive research for a healthier, more informed future!
It took me a bit to wrap my head around this shift. I had to realize networking and asking for referrals is not about favoritism in selection nor is it being desperate; it’s just how things work. Networking is about reaching out to people you’d like to learn from in some way.
The idea of blogging first sparkled in me in 2016 when I moved to Germany. I knew that my time in Germany would be a cherished chapter in my life – exploring places and life. I wanted to document all my travels and I thought I’d nail a travel blog!
